For the operating system to display Arabic properly, Complex Script must be installed or else text will appear disjointed such as ع ل و م rather than علوم.

This is normally an issue in Window XP (Later versions come pre-installed)

To install complex scripts in Windows XP

  1. Click Start menu, and then click Control Panel.
  2. If the control panel is in the category view, click Switch to Classic View.
  3. Double click Regional and Language Options.
  4. Click on the Languages Tab
  5. under supplemental language support, select the Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages check box
  6. Click OK or Apply.
  7. You will be prompted to insert the Windows CD-ROM. Insert the CD-ROM and click OK.
  8. After the files are installed, you restart your computer.

Note: If you are prompted to chose a file after step 7 click browse, go to My Computer, click and open Windows XP in the CD-Drive, click i386, click MSDLG74.PO and then click Open and thereafter click OK.
