Encoding ensures consistency between the language in which a script is written and the way it is displayed. Improper encoding makes the text appear jibberish such as Ø¹Ø±Ø¨ÙŠ.

Popular Arabic encoding includes UTF-8, Arabic (Windows-1256) and Arabic (ISO-8859-6). The recommended encoding is UTF-8.

Fix the problem

If your web browser shows the charachter as Ø¹Ø±Ø¨ÙŠ, change the encoding.

Use the following solutions:

  • Firefox: View > Charachter Encoding > Arabic (Windows-1256)
  • Chrome: Tools > Encoding > Arabic (Windows-1256)
  • Safari: Views > Text Encoding > Arabic (Windows-1256)
  • Internet Explorer (IE): View > Encoding > Arabic (Windows-1256)
  • Opera: Page > Encoding > Arabic > Windows-1256
