Existing standard keyboards can be converted to bilingual keyboards with Arabic sticker overlays. This is a simple peel-and-stick method and ideal if you do not wish to invest in costlier hardware.

The stickers are transparent with the Arabic character displayed on the unoccupied corner of each key. The existing letter can be seen through the transparency

These are sold in sets and will need to be attached individually on each key. Although this may be cumbersome but the advantage is that you can map the keyboard tailored to your preferred keyboard layout.

Consider the following factors when selecting and attaching the stickers:

Colour: Use black (or colour) ink overlays on white buttons and white ink on black buttons.

Size: The standard size is 11mm (width) x 14mm (height).

Note: some laptops have smaller buttons whilst some have no unoccupied spaces on the keys.

Mapping: Before attaching the stickers make sure that the positions match your preferred installed keyboard layout.

Note: The primary letters are available but the secondary letters such as diacritics are mostly not provided.
